Governor Hobbs to host Energy Superabundance workshop on energy production and generation

The third workshop of the Western Governors’ Association’s Chair initiative, Energy Superabundance: Unlocking Prosperity in the West, will be held in Phoenix, Arizona, on December 17 and 18 at the Hyatt Regency Phoenix (122 North 2nd Street, Phoenix, AZ). 

Arizona Governor Katie Hobbs will host this workshop to explore topics related to energy production and generation.  Policymakers and experts from across the West will engage in discussions examining strategies for meeting growing demand, permitting and siting new generation, critical mineral supply chains, distributed energy resources, and opportunities for unlocking emerging energy technologies.

Governor Cox launches his WGA Chair initiative at INL with Governor Little

The first workshop of Utah Governor Spencer Cox's WGA Chair initiative, Energy Superabundance: Unlocking Prosperity in the West, was held at the Idaho National Laboratory. 

This workshop, hosted by Idaho Governor Brad Little, explored topics related to nuclear energy. Policymakers and experts from around the West, including Governor Cox, participated in discussions examining regulatory and permitting challenges for nuclear energy projects, investment needs and policy frameworks, supply chain challenges, and nuclear fuel cycle constraints.

Governor Polis hosts Energy Superabundance initiative workshop on energy transmission

The second workshop of Utah Governor Spencer Cox’s WGA Chair initiative, Energy Superabundance: Unlocking Prosperity in the West, explored practical ways to expand and improve the grid while avoiding lengthy timelines and limiting rate increases. 

“We want a lower cost grid, we want a more resilient and reliable grid, and transmission is absolutely critical to achieve that,” Colorado Governor Jared Polis, who hosted the workshop in downtown Denver, Colorado, said in his opening remarks. “My fellow Governors and I are committed to working together to find practical and bipartisan solutions that can improve the grid and expand transmission infrastructure to truly achieve energy superabundance.”  .
