Changes in climate, the prevalence and severity of extreme weather events, extended drought , and federal agricultural policies can have a dramatic effect on the success of American agriculture. Western Governors support an array of funding, trade, education, research, nutrition assistance, and workforce development programs that promote agricultural contributions to the economies and quality of life in western states. The Governors highlight the production and conservation benefits of precision agriculture technologies and provide recommendations to support this growing sector. The federal Farm Bill provides an opportunity to advance Western Governors’ policy which supports, protects, and advocates for the continued health of western agricultural communities and their economies.
