WGA calls for increased investment in snow water forecasting capabilities

In correspondence with the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Subcommittee on Water and Power, WGA shared bipartisan policy recommendations related to snow water forecasting and projections for water resource availability. The March 30 letter, signed by WGA Executive Director Jack Waldorf, emphasized the importance of investment in forecasting capabilities and infrastructure. “There is a need for increased investment to be made in the West’s snow water forecasting capabilities, especially as the need for information and data on the status and projections of water resource availability become more critical to western prosperity and community safety,” reads the letter. “Western Governors also support efforts to maintain and improve existing infrastructure while seeking creative solutions to develop new infrastructure with limited resources, including eliminating unintended barriers to program access by rural communities.” Read the correspondence in full for further details
