The Western Governors’ Association shared information with the U.S. Department of Agriculture on barriers that underserved communities face in accessing USDA programs and services. The comments of July 15, 2021 included policy recommendations from WGA’s Reimagining the Rural West Initiative, including “findings and stakeholder comments on barriers to accessing federal loan and grant programs for underserved rural communities.” The outreach signed by WGA Executive Director Jim Ogsbury also included the Policy Resolution Rural Development, which details recommendations for identifying and revising onerous requirements to recognize the limited resources and capacity of rural applicants.
