In correspondence with the House Transportation and Infrastructure Subcommittee on Water Resources and the Environment, the Western Governors’ Association submitted several policy recommendations regarding water infrastructure financing. In particular, the letter of March 11, 2025, which was signed by WGA Executive Director Jack Waldorf, emphasized the need for federal support to develop new water infrastructure projects and maintain and improve aging water infrastructure. “The need for new infrastructure, the need to address aging infrastructure for existing water and wastewater facilities, and the need for additional water projects cannot be ignored,” the letter read. “Congress should authorize federal water resources development legislation on a regular schedule and appropriate sufficient funding from multiple sources so that all projects and studies authorized in such legislation can be completed in a timely manner.” Read the full correspondence for additional details.
