In correspondence with the House Natural Resources Subcommittee on Indian and Insular Affairs, WGA submitted bipartisan policy recommendations for rural development. The February 3 letter, signed by WGA Executive Director Jack Waldorf, called for reducing barriers to federal programs and assistance. “Vibrant and prosperous rural communities are essential to the overall health and economic strength of western states and the nation,” reads the letter. “However, many federal programs for rural development and distressed communities include unintended barriers for rural individuals and entities that need assistance most.” Read the correspondence in full for further details.
