WGA calls on National Institute of Standards and Technology to better protect critical infrastructure against cyberattacks

As the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) looks to improve its cybersecurity resources, the Western Governors’ Association urged the agency to prepare for cyberattacks on critical infrastructure by running real-world simulations. The letter of March 3, signed by WGA Executive Director Jim Ogsbury, specifically highlighted the need to secure the nation’s energy supply by modernizing our systems to be more resilient. “Our nation requires innovation in detecting, preventing, and responding to continually evolving cyber threats,” the letter read. “The federal government should provide funding and technical assistance for these and other types of cybersecurity research and development.” Read, download the letter to see the full set of recommendations.
