Western Governors have communicated their support for legislation supporting states’ cleanup activities on abandoned and orphaned oil and gas wells and associated sites to the U.S. Senate Committee on Energy and Natural Resources. “Many western states are currently engaged in oil and gas well plugging and remediation activities, and this work could be significantly accelerated with federal assistance,” asserted the outreach of April 29, 2021, signed by WGA Chair Oregon Gov. Kate Brown and Vice Chair Idaho Gov. Brad Little.
