Western Governors commend FCC ruling to fund internet access on school buses

In a letter to the Federal Communications Commission, Western Governors expressed appreciation for the agency's proposed ruling to allow the use of E-Rate Program funding for Wi-Fi or similar access point technologies on school buses. The letter of June 30, signed by WGA Chair, Idaho Gov. Brad Little, and WGA Vice-Chair, Colorado Gov. Jared Polis, applauded the agency's responsiveness to Western Governors' past recommendations regarding the program and bus Wi-Fi, which are outlined in WGA Policy Resolution 2020-08, Broadband Connectivity. "We commend the Commission's attentiveness to this matter," the letter read. "Flexibility in E-Rate funding helps address inequities in connectivity access, especially in rural areas."
