Western Governors ask President Biden for role in Executive Order review of new oil and natural gas permitting on public lands, offshore waters

Western Governors, in outreach to President Biden, "respectfully request" they be consulted about Executive Order 14008, Tackling the Climate Crisis at Home and Abroad, and Department of the Interior Secretarial Order 3395. Specifically, the Governors seek consultation from the Secretary of the Interior in regards to Section 208 of the EO, which requires the Secretary to “pause new oil and natural gas leases on public lands or in offshore waters pending completion of a comprehensive review and reconsideration of Federal oil and gas permitting and leasing practices.” The March 1, 2021 outreach signed by WGA Chair Oregon Gov. Kate Brown and Vice Chair Idaho Gov.
