Letter: Governors comment on USFS proposed revisions to directives on rangeland management, grazing permits and allotment

Western Governors have provided comment on proposed revisions to the directives governing rangeland management, grazing permit administration, and grazing allotment administration on U.S. Forest Service (USFS) lands. The Governors, in part, express support for items in the directives that "would help improve flexibility and integration of grazing management and targeted grazing." The Feb. 9, 2021 outreach signed by WGA Chair Oregon Gov. Kate Brown and Vice Chair Idaho Gov. Brad Little also addressed decisions to vacate and close grazing allotments, noting in part that "Federal land management agencies must give interested state agencies an opportunity to fully participate in or provide input to grazing permit actions – prior to their initiation."
