Western Governors’ Association Executive Director Jim Ogsbury offered testimony on March 4, 2020 to the House and Senate Appropriations Subcommittees on Labor, Health and Human Services, Education, and Related Agencies. The testimony provided comment on the FY 2021 appropriations and activities of the Departments of Labor, Health and Human Services, and Education. The testimony included recommendations such as: adequate funding of Perkins State Grants and recognition that Governors and states are in the best position to determine how to use federal funding for their economies; expanded education and training programs for cybersecurity; and implementation of programs to ensure states have an adequate health care workforce.
