The Western Governors’ Association appreciates U.S. Department of Agriculture Rural Development's (USDA RD) expanded program eligibility to support broadband infrastructure. WGA notes in its outreach that the expansion, authorized by Section 6210 of the 2018 Farm Bill, helps rural organizations and businesses better access federal broadband resources and supports efficient infrastructure investments by allowing USDA RD program participants to devote a portion of their funding to broadband facilities and equipment. "Such expansion," asserts the Oct. 14 letter signed by WGA Executive Director Jim Ogsbury, "will promote broadband connectivity improvements across the rural West." Read, download letter
