WGA urges House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure to reauthorize the Essential Air Service Program and the Small Community Air Service Development Program  

In correspondence with the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure, the Western Governors’ Association voiced its continued support for the Essential Air Service Program and the Small Community Air Service Development Program. The letter of March 24, 2023, signed by WGA Executive Director Jack Waldorf, also urged Congress to consider additional measures to address challenges in rural air connectivity, including funding for infrastructure and service subsidies. “Air transportation is necessary to fulfill the needs of remote communities in the West,” the letter read. “These programs help attract more businesses, workers, and visitors to these areas and increase access to important services.” Read more for additional details.
