WGA urges Congress to address infrastructure, maintenance at national parks

The Western Governors’ Association on June 18, 2019 urged Congress to address infrastructure needs at national parks, including road and bridge safety, and water and sanitation facilities.

“Not adequately addressing the maintenance needs at National Parks is already having negative effects on important infrastructure needs at our nation’s parks, including road and bridge safety, and water and sanitation facilities,” asserts the June 18, 2019 letter signed by WGA Executive Director Jim Ogsbury.

WGA Policy Resolution 2019-07, National Parks and the West, communicates governors’ support for legislative efforts to improve maintenance at national parks. It was submitted to Senate Committee on Energy and Natural Resources Chairman Lisa Murkowski and Ranking Member Joe Manchin, and House Committee on Natural Resources Chairman Raul Grijalva and Ranking Member Rob Bishop on June 18, 2019. Read, download the House letter. Read, download the Senate letter.
