The Western Governors’ Association submitted testimony on FY 2020 appropriations to the House and Senate Committees on Appropriations Subcommittees on Energy and Water Development.

The written testimony delivered on March 8, 2019 provided comments on the FY 2020 appropriations and activities of the Department of Energy, Bureau of Reclamation, and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. It highlighted a variety of topics, including development of the 2015 Clean Water Rule, funding of improved predictive and adaptive capabilities for extreme weather variability, and several energy-related programs

“Western Governors and federal agencies deal with a complex web of interrelated energy and water resource issues,” notes the testimony signed by James D. Ogsbury, Executive Director of WGA. “It is an enormous challenge to judiciously balance competing needs in this environment, and Western Governors appreciate the difficulty of the decisions (to be made). The foregoing recommendations are offered in a spirit of cooperation and respect, and WGA is prepared to assist you as you discharge these critical and challenging responsibilities.”
