WGA submits bipartisan policy recommendations around Nuclear Lifecycle Innovation Campuses
In correspondence with the House Energy and Commerce Subcommittee on Energy, the Western Governors’ Association submitted bipartisan recommendations as Congress and the Department of Energy develop Nuclear Lifecycle Innovation Campuses. The September 15 letter, signed by WGA Executive Director Jack Waldorf, called for close coordination with states on these facilities. “Western Governors recognize the important role of nuclear energy in meeting growing demand and enabling more reliable, affordable, and abundant energy,” reads the letter. “As Congress and the Department of Energy develop Nuclear Lifecycle Innovation Campuses and consider durable nuclear waste disposal strategies, Governors emphasize that these strategies should be developed in close coordination with states and should appropriately consider state involvement, expertise, and consent in nuclear fuel cycle activities.” Read the full correspondence for further details.
