WGA requests release of energy corridor Region 1 draft

The Western Governors’ Association is seeking the release of a draft West-wide energy corridor report so that it may inform subsequent regional reviews of pipeline, transmission and distribution right-of-way-corridors on federal lands in the West.

The Departments of Interior, Agriculture and Energy began a review of the corridors in Region 1 (S. California, S. Nevada and W. Arizona) in June 2016, but the draft report for Region 1 has not yet been released.

WGA sent a letter on March 20, 2018, to Interior Secretary Ryan Zinke, Agriculture Secretary Sonny Perdue and Energy Secretary Rick Perry urging release of the draft report.

“I encourage you to release the draft Region 1 report as soon as possible, so it can be useful to the Region 2 and 3 reviews and provide an example of a potential review product” wrote WGA Executive Director James D. Ogsbury. “Western Governors look forward to continuing to work with you on this issue.”
