Watch Webinar: Rural Workforce Development Challenges

The Western Governors’ Association hosted the webinar, Rural Workforce Development Challenges, on March 21, 2018 as part of a series for the Western Governors’ Workforce Development Initiative.

Expanding meaningful training and education opportunities for high-wage, in-demand careers is a challenge for rural communities. The webinar highlighted what states and employers are doing to provide high quality career and technical education (CTE) and workforce services for rural job-seekers to access in-demand careers and strengthen the local talent pipeline.

Panelists discussed emerging best practices and examples of how states, federal agencies and industry are collaborating to provide high-quality learning experiences in and out of the classroom.  (Download the presentation slides)

Moderator: Lauren DeNinno, Western Governors’ Association. Panelists: Kristi Boswell, Senior Advisor, U.S. Department of Agriculture; Austin Estes, Senior Policy Associate, Advance CTE; Randy Noel, Chairman of the Board, National Association of Home Builders; Geniphyr Ponce-Pore, Director, CSU Regional Hub Network and Richard Katt, State Director, Nebraska Career Education.
