In correspondence with the House Homeland Security Subcommittee on Emergency Management and Technology, the Western Governors’ Association (WGA) emphasized the Governors’ bipartisan desire for flexibility and inclusivity in federal disaster-related programs, standards, and processes for program access and assistance administration. The letter of November 29, signed by Jack Waldorf, WGA’s Executive Director, specifically called for enhanced coordination and cohesion between states, territories, localities, and federal disaster assistance providers through a single, comprehensive point of contact. It also underscored the importance of improving Federal Emergency Management Agency programs and other federal resources that provide disaster relief and help rebuild homes and communities after natural disasters.
