The Western Governors’ Association is pleased to announce the hiring of its sixth Executive Director, Jack Waldorf. Jack will assume his new responsibilities at WGA on January 23.
Jack currently serves as the Senior Associate Vice President of Federal Relations and Outreach for the University of Colorado (CU) System where he manages federal activities for the University of Colorado System and its campuses. Among other things, he represents the university on issues related to federal higher education and research policy and serves as a liaison between the university and federal officials.
Prior to joining CU in early 2013, Jack worked in both the United States House of Representatives and the United States Senate in Washington, D.C., serving as a policy advisor on several issues, including education, health care, and transportation, and developing a deep understanding of public policy and the federal legislative process.
Jack is a graduate of CU Boulder with a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science and History. He also earned his Master’s degree in Public Administration at CU Denver. Jack and his wife, Monica, live in Erie, Colorado, with their three sons.
“Jack is ideally situated to protect and build upon the Governors’ proud legacy of accomplishment,” said Jim Ogsbury, the outgoing Executive Director, who will continue to serve as President of the Western Governors’ Foundation, WGA’s philanthropic arm.
“I’m honored and excited to join the Western Governors’ Association,” said Jack. “The West is full of unique challenges and opportunities alike, and I look forward to working with the Governors on a bipartisan basis to ensure the region continues to thrive for future generations.”
