Western Governors express support for aspects of the bipartisan Fix Our Forests Act and share related policy recommendations
In correspondence with the Senate Committee on Agriculture, Nutrition, and Forestry, Western Governors wrote in support of certain aspects of S. 1462, the Fix Our Forests Act. The October 20 letter expresses support for aspects of the legislation that align with Western Governors’ policy and calls for modifications that would further improve forest management and fire risk reduction in western states. “As the wildfire crisis has worsened in recent years, Western Governors have developed and advocated for a range of policy recommendations to promote healthy western forests that can continue to provide our communities with jobs, recreation, quality of life, and important ecosystem services,” reads the letter. “S. 1462, the Fix Our Forests Act, advances many of our recommendations, and we are eager to continue to work with the Committee to support critical forest management reforms through the legislative process.” Read the correspondence in full for further details.
