Western Governors emphasize close coordination between states and federal partners in case of lapse of federal government funding in letter to OMB Director

In correspondence with U.S. Office of Management and Budget Director Russell Vought, Western Governors wrote to highlight the importance of close coordination between states and federal partners in preparing for a potential lapse in federal government funding. The September 30 letter, signed by WGA Chair, Utah Governor Spencer Cox, and WGA Vice Chair, Hawaii Governor Josh Green, called for advanced planning and partnership between states and the federal government. “The effects of a government shutdown vary in each of our states, but Western Governors share a common interest in minimizing disruptions to the extent possible through communication and coordination with our federal partners,” reads the letter. “We therefore ask that you help facilitate consultation with states by directing agencies to coordinate with Governors or our designees in preparing for a lapse in funding.” Read the correspondence in full for further details.
