Western Governors’ Association supports states’ agriculture, conservation programs in 2018 Farm Bill

The Western Governors’ Association shared the policy priorities of Western Governors in the 2018 Farm Bill with leadership of the House Committee on Agriculture.

The letter signed by WGA Executive Director James D. Ogsbury highlights the importance of agriculture, conservation programs and grazing in western states, which are home to more than 75 percent of national forest and rangeland ecosystems.

“Western Governors support collaborative, targeted and voluntary conservation to address locally identified natural resource concerns for farm, rangeland, and forest resources on private and public lands,” notes the letter sent on April 17, 2018.

WGA policy resolutions referenced in the letter included: 2017-09, Western Agriculture; 2017-10, National Forest and Rangeland Management; and 2018-02, Public Lands Grazing.
