The Western Governors’ Biosecurity and Invasive Species Initiative launched by WGA Chair Hawaii Gov. David Ige focused on the impacts of nuisance species, pests and pathogens on ecosystems, forests, rangelands, watersheds and infrastructure, and the role biosecurity plays in addressing invasive species risks.
Workshops hosted by Western Governors were held in Nevada, Wyoming, Montana and Hawai‘i. A webinar series examined topics that included the effects of invasive species on fisheries, the role of conservation districts in invasive species management, and impacts of invasive species on Pacific Islands forests and ecosystems.
