WATCH: ‘Restarting Resource-Dependent Economies’ webinar

The Western Governors’ Association hosted the webinar, Restarting Resource-Dependent Economies, on Friday, June 19.

The webinar focused on how the COVID-19 pandemic is impacting timber-dependent communities in the West. State, local, industry and conservation leaders discussed how rural communities are dealing with the pandemic and what steps will need to be taken to restart their economies after the pandemic has passed.

The roundtable was moderated by Laura Schweitzer, the Executive Director of the Council of Western State Foresters/Western Forestry Leadership Coalition. Panelists included:

  • Brad Smith, North Idaho Director, Idaho Conservation League
  • Wes McCart, Commissioner, Stevens County, Washington
  • Jim Neiman, CEO, Neiman Enterprises

This webinar was part of a series for the Working Lands Roundtable, which continues implementation of WGA’s natural resource-focused initiatives and serves as a vehicle for discussion on cross-boundary working lands management.
