LISTEN: Out West podcast highlights the importance and complexities of data collection for invasive species

Invasive Species Data Collection and Coordination, the latest episode of WGA’s Out West podcast, delves into the importance, and complexity, of compiling accurate data on invasive species.

The episode is part of a series for the Invasive Species Data Mobilization Campaign, which has developed recommendations for national, state, and local land managers and conservation groups to enter previously unavailable data into new or existing invasive species data management platforms.

The episode features an interview with Annie Simpson, a data coordinator for the Biofoundational Data Team in the Science Analytics & Synthesis Program with the U.S. Department of Agriculture. She details the complexity of invasive species and the difficulties in accumulating quality data for such a vast number of species, as well as organizing that data into a database that can be used by several different agencies.
