The 2024 Annual Meeting of the Western Governors' Association convened five Western Governors in Olympic Valley, California for in-depth policy discussions with several senior Administration officials and industry experts.

Joining WGA's Chair, Wyoming Governor Mark Gordon, was WGA's Vice Chair, New Mexico Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham, as well as Nevada Governor Joe Lombardo, Idaho Governor Brad Little, and North Dakota Governor Doug Burgum. 

The Governors spoke with Secretary of Health and Human Services Xavier Becerra and Deputy Secretary of Agriculture Xochitl Torres Small about how their departments can improve coordination with the states on a variety of issues including mental health care and wildfire mitigation.

The Governors also hosted roundtable discussions with regional thought leaders about water reuse and reclamation, the opioid crisis, disaster response, and decarbonization. 

To close the meeting, Governor Mark Gordon passed the Chair's gavel to the incoming Chair, Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham, and announced Utah Governor Spencer Cox's election to serve as WGA's Vice Chair.
