Despite the enormous demands imposed by the COVID-19 pandemic and an extraordinary fire season, Western Governors continue to advance bipartisan public policy priorities to benefit our region and nation.

Even though the pandemic has interfered with their plans to gather in person for the 2020 WGA Winter Meeting, the Governors are working with the Association to produce an exciting “virtual” meeting on Thursday, Dec. 10 (Register to attend). Sessions will feature:

  • Governor-led discussions about COVID-19 and wildfire response;
  • Conversations with special guests Brad Smith, president of Microsoft, and Dr. Sanjeev Arora, founder of the innovative tele-mentoring initiative, Project ECHO;
  • Remarks by the Hon. Alex Azar, Secretary of Health and Human Services, addressing state and federal collaboration in response to the coronavirus pandemic;
  • A keynote address from WGA Chair, Oregon Gov. Kate Brown, who will highlight her efforts to create an electric vehicles roadmap for the West.

The energy and stamina of Western Governors is nothing short of astonishing, and we have all been affected by their leadership during this challenging period of our nation’s history. I hope you will join this special group of leaders as they continue to chart a bipartisan course for the future of our region. In the meantime, best wishes to you and yours for a happy and healthful holiday season.
