Ahead of a Senate hearing on conservation and forestry programs in the 2023 Farm Bill, the Western Governors’ Association submitted policy recommendations that express Western Governors’ shared perspectives on forest health, species conservation, and cross-boundary management. The letter of March 1, signed by WGA Executive Director Jack Waldorf, emphasized the importance of partnerships between federal, state, local, and tribal land management agencies for stewardship. “Federal, state, local, and tribal land managers should work to support effective collaboration on federal projects and all-lands initiatives,” the letter stated. “These agencies should strive to find new ways to collaborate on forest and rangeland management projects, as well as to explore ways to improve state-federal coordination on existing management projects.” Read the full letter to learn more.
