In correspondence with the U.S. House Committee on Homeland Security, the Western Governors’ Association emphasized the need for the federal government to collaborate with the private sector as they work to mitigate supply chain and national critical infrastructure risks. The letter of March 24, 2023, signed by WGA Executive Director Jack Waldorf, also urged the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency to clearly define state roles in the Joint Cyber Defense Collaborative and ensure that the State and Local Cybersecurity Grant Program is administered in a flexible manner. “The cybersecurity of our nation is an all-of-government and industry-wide endeavor,” the letter read. “Centralized authority, points of contact, and formalized communication pathways are necessary to address increasingly complex threats.” Read more for additional details.
