WGA provides House with recommendations for disaster preparedness and response

In correspondence with the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee’s Subcommittee on Economic Development, Public Buildings and Emergency Management, the Western Governors’ Association provided recommendations on pre- and post-disaster challenges in the West. The letter of April 5, signed by WGA Executive Director, Jim Ogsbury, highlighted the importance of utilizing state data and expertise in federal decision-making processes. “The federal government plays a critical role in disaster and emergency response and long-term recovery efforts,” the letter read. “FEMA and other applicable federal agencies should work directly with individual states and territories, through Governors or their designees, to jointly identify disaster risks and methods by which such risks may be addressed.” Read, download the letter to see the complete set of recommendations.
