WGA highlights the need for improved data-sharing capacity with Federal Chief Data Officers Council

In outreach to the Federal Chief Data Officers Council, The Western Governors’ Association shared its policy resolution, Utilizing State Data in Federal Decision Making, which highlights the importance of using state data in federal decision making and the need to improve the nation’s data-sharing capacities to encourage more robust collaboration. The letter of Nov. 15, signed by WGA Executive Director Jim Ogsbury, also discussed the need for uniformity in data standards and stewardship policies, as well as federal consultation with states during the development of data policies and data sharing. “Congress and the Executive Branch should support, and work with states toward the modernization of our nation’s data infrastructure and intergovernmental data-sharing and analysis capabilities,” the letter read.
