Western Governors encouraged the Federal Highway Administration to consider The Western Governors’ Association’s Electric Vehicles Roadmap Initiative Report and policy resolution, Transportation Infrastructure in the Western United States, while it develops guidance in accordance with electric vehicle (EV) provisions contained in the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act. The letter of Jan. 28, signed by WGA Chair, Idaho Gov. Brad Little, and Vice-Chair, Colorado Gov. Jared Polis, urged the agency to be flexible with how western states use funds for the expansion of EV charging stations in rural communities and to utilize existing multi-state EV partnerships. “Western Governors believe there is a strong federal role, in partnership with the states and local governments, for the continued investment in our surface transportation network,” the letter read, “particularly on federal routes and in multimodal transportation networks throughout the West that are critical to interstate commerce and a growing economy.” Read, download the letter.
