The Western Governors’ Association submitted comments to the White House in response to President Biden’s Executive Order (EO), America’s Supply Chains. The outreach of May 13, 2021 signed by WGA Executive Director Jim Ogsbury, encouraged consideration of the WGA Policy Resolution, National Minerals Policy, during the departmental review process directed by the EO. In the resolution, Western Governors remind that the "minerals mining industry is critical to local and national economies and that reliable supplies of minerals and metals play an essential role in meeting our economic and national security needs."
