LETTER: WGA seeks USDA collaboration with Governors on rulemakings affecting Farm Bill conservation programs

The Western Governors' Association urges the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) and Farm Service Agency (FSA) to collaborate with Western Governors and state agencies to develop implementing regulations for Farm Production and Conservation (FPAC) rulemakings affecting Farm Bill conservation programs. "These entities will provide valuable feedback on the optimal use of FPAC funds to address critical conservation challenges facing working lands in western states," asserts the letter of Nov. 13, 2019 signed by WGA Executive Director Jim Ogsbury. "Mounting threats" are imperiling western working landscapes, notes the letter to Bill Northey, Under Secretary for Farm Production and Conservation. That reality makes "NRCS and FSA vital partners in promoting the long-term viability of working lands in the West." Read, download the letter
