Western Governors have expressed support to U.S Senate leadership for the Utilizing Significant Emissions with Innovative Technologies (USE IT) Act, which facilitates development and deployment of carbon dioxide capture, utilization and sequestration (CCUS) infrastructure.
“Western Governors have long supported advancement of carbon capture technology due to its environmental and economic benefits,” stated the April 24, 2018 letter signed by WGA Chair South Dakota Gov. Dennis Daugaard and WGA Vice Chair Hawaii Gov. David Ige.
In light of that, the letter added that "Western Governors support the bipartisan Act, which will facilitate development and deployment of CCUS infrastructure" and thanked the committee for its recognition that “states have a critical role in promoting the development and utilization of carbon capture technologies.”
