WATCH WEBINAR: Electric Vehicle Workforce Needs and Opportunities

The Western Governors’ Association hosted the webinar, Electric Vehicle Workforce Needs and Opportunities, on April 21, 2021.

Workforce opportunities abound in the electric vehicles sector, whether it be working in a battery or vehicle manufacturing plant, installing and repairing public charging stations, or retrofitting the electrical system in a parking garage. There are significant gaps, however, in the workforce and EV infrastructure and a need for training opportunities. This webinar analyzed how smart workforce investments could address these gaps, and the local economic benefits of investing in a robust EV workforce.

The webinar was moderated by David Terry, Executive Director of the National Association of State Energy Officials. Panelists included: Dr. Linda Little, Assistant Director of the IBEW/NECA Electrical Industry Training Center; Jannet Malig, Statewide Sector Navigator for Advanced Transportation and Logistics at California Community Colleges; Michael Graham, Director of Policy & Communications, Columbia-Willamette Clean Cities Coalition.

The webinar was part of a series in conjunction with the Electric Vehicles Roadmap Initiative of WGA Chair and Oregon Gov. Kate Brown. The Chair’s Initiative examined opportunities to improve the planning, siting, and coordination of electric vehicle (EV) infrastructure in western states.
