The 2013 Western Governors’ Association Annual Meeting in Park City attracted six governors and a variety of distinguished guests.
Energy policy had a significant role, including Utah Gov. Gary Herbert overseeing the formal roll-out of his Chairman's Initiative, the 10-Year Energy Vision, which articulates the overarching goals of a Western energy policy.
The Governors approved nine resolutions, including Endangered Species Act reform and Wildland Fire Management, among others. (Learn more). Speakers at the meeting included Interior Secretary Sally Jewell and Boone Pickens, Chairman of BP Capital Management.
Attending Governors included WGA Chair Herbert and Vice Chair John Hickenlooper of Colorado, along with Idaho's Butch Otter, Montana's Steve Bullock, Nevada's Brian Sandoval, and Wyoming's Matt Mead.
The meeting closed with the election of Gov. Hickenlooper as Chairman and Nevada Gov. Sandoval as Vice-Chairman.
