LETTER: Western Governors concerned by EPA proposal to extend compliance dates for wood heating devices

Western Governors express concern regarding the Environmental Protection Agency’s proposal to extend the current compliance dates for New Source Performance Standards for new residential wood heaters, hydronic heaters and forced-air furnaces. The Jan. 24, 2019 letter to Acting Administrator Andrew Wheeler encourages EPA to consult with state regulators regarding these proposals. “States are depending on the current compliance deadlines for these appliances to meet the responsibilities of their State Implementation Plans, as required by the Clean Air Act,” notes the letter signed by WGA Chair Hawaii Gov. David Ige and WGA Vice Chair North Dakota Gov. Doug Burgum. Read, download the letter.
