LETTER: Governors seek continued collaboration with DOI, USDA on vegetation management to reduce wildfire risk

Western Governors encourage continued collaboration to improve vegetation management in and near transmission and distribution corridors to reduce the likelihood of wildfire in outreach to
Department of the Interior (DOI) Secretary David Bernhardt and Department of Agriculture (USDA) Secretary Sonny Perdue. The Governors' Dec. 11, 2019 letter, signed by WGA Chair North Dakota Gov. Doug Burgum and Vice Chair Oregon Gov. Kate Brown, notes that the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) agreed to by the U.S. Forest Service (USFS) and WGA enables them to work collaboratively and effectively on the challenges facing western landscapes. "Western Governors appreciate the engagement of USDA through the MOU," notes the letter, and the Governors "are eager to make progress on this important issue." Read, download the letter
