WGA calls on Congress to increase the awareness of VA benefits, provide professional credentials for service members transitioning back to civilian life

In correspondence with the Senate Committee on Armed Services and the Committee on Veterans Affairs, the Western Governors’ Association called on Congress to ensure that transitioning service members receive comprehensive information about VA benefits at least twelve months before their transition to civilian life. The letter of October 23, 2023, signed by WGA Executive Director Jack Waldorf, also voices the Governors’ support for offering service members the opportunity to receive credit or professional credentials for their military training, facilitating a smoother transition into civilian careers.
