WGA 2022 Annual Meeting

Read highlights and see pictures from the 2022 Annual Meeting in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. The three-day meeting, hosted by Idaho Governor Brad Little, featured keynote addresses by Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg, Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsack, Secretary of Veterans Affairs Denis McDonough, and Secretary of Health and Human Services Xavier Becerra. The Governors also hosted roundtable discussions with regional experts on wildfire, drought cybersecurity, and the supply chain issues.

Working Lands, Working Communities Initiative

The central policy effort of the 2022 WGA Chair, Governor Brad Little examined the interdependent relationships between western communities and land resource management entities, as well as the role that local communities play in successful land planning and management processes. The Special Report of the Initiative contains recommendations for improving cross-boundary land management policy, wildfire mitigation, and ecosystem restoration.

Resolutions

Western Governors formally approved six new policy resolutions. They represent the Governors’ collective policy on a National Minerals Policy; Radioactive Materials Management; Federal-State Land Exchanges and Purchases; Biosecurity and Invasive Species Management; Recreation and Tourism on Public Lands; and Working Lands, Working Communities.
