Conceptual Plans for Electricity Transmission in the West

A new industry structure that would enable the construction of necessary transmission, however, is not yet in place. As a result, Western governors focus in trhis 2001 report on taking action to ensure adequate transmission as the competitive wholesale electric marketplace matures.

This 1997 report reflects the desire of Western Governors to create a WGA Drought Task Force charged with, among other things, coordinating the drought response neeeds of Western states and sharing solutions that can be used by the states.

But that experience depends on maintaining high visual air quality in the region, which is threatened by haze resulting from projected growth over the next 50 years.

This 1996 report by the Grand Canyon Visibility Transport Commission analyzed the current conditions and developed an array of recommendations airmed at protecting clear days and reducing dirty days at national parks and wilderness areas.
