Western Governors' Association Policy Resolution 2017-05: Governors must be consulted about federal activities involving the transportation, storage or disposal of radioactive waste within a state’s borders, and no radioactive waste storage or disposal facility should be located within the geographic boundaries of a western state or U.S. flag island without the written consent of the Governor.
Western Governors' Association Policy Resolution 2016-09: Western Governors adopt the "10-Year Energy Vision for the West" as the energy policy for WGA. The Vision recognizes that not every state, territory, or flag island approaches energy use and development in the same way, but the governors remain committed to seeing states develop policies and use their energy endowments to the maximum benefit of their citizens, the region, and the nation.
Western Governors' Association Policy Resolution 2015-06: Western Governors support policies and incentives that advance investment in Enhanced oil recovery (EOR) projects, infrastructure, technology and research. The President and Congress should enact federal incentives to increase CO2 supply available for the oil industry to purchase and use in EOR, and federal policies aimed to limit CO2 emissions should promote, and not impede, development and deployment of CO2 capture and commoditization.
Western Governors' Association Policy Resolution 2015-02: Many western state economies depend on oil and natural gas production for economic development. Western Governors recognize the environmental and economic benefits to reducing methane emissions and the opportunities for beneficial use of the natural resource. New federal regulations for methane emission reductions should recognize state authority under the Clean Air Act.
