In a show of support for the people of Nevada, the Western Governors’ Association has announced that it will hold its 2018 Winter Meeting in Las Vegas.
“In the aftermath of this week's horrific incident, WGA stands in solidarity with the great State of Nevada to present the indomitable spirit of the West. We are Las Vegas strong,” said WGA Executive Director Jim Ogsbury.
WGA holds two meetings annually that assemble Western Governors to discuss the most significant policy issues facing the region. The 2017 Winter Meeting will be held Dec. 1-2, 2017, in Phoenix, Ariz.; the 2018 Annual Meeting will be held on June 25-27, 2018, in Rapid City, S.D.
“We join all Americans in expressing our heartfelt condolences and pledging our support to the citizens of Las Vegas in the wake of this week’s attack on innocent people,” said Hawaii Gov. David Ige, who will serve as WGA Chair at the 2018 Winter Meeting. “We look forward to expressing our support in person when we meet in Las Vegas.”
While a firm date has not been established for the 2018 Winter Meeting in Las Vegas, Ogsbury said it would occur in early December.
