Western Governors urge DOE to consult with states on Congestion Study

Western Governors urge the Department of Energy (DOE) to fulfill its statutory obligation to consult with Governors or their designees before preparation and throughout development of the 2019 Congestion Study.

“The 2019 Congestion Study and subsequent designations of National Corridors will greatly affect state and regional energy, infrastructure and land use planning,” notes the Sept. 25, 2018 outreach to DOE Secretary Rick Perry signed by WGA Chair Hawaii Gov. David Ige and WGA Vice Chair North Dakota Gov. Doug Burgum.

The letter “strongly recommends” that the agency seek gubernatorial consultation in the Study and offers WGA assistance with this outreach.
