Western Governors remind BLM, USFS of developments to consider in energy corridors review

Western Governors urge the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) and U.S. Forest Service (USFS) to consider new developments as they move forward with their review of the pipeline, transmission and distribution right-of-way corridors on federal lands in the West.

The Sept. 26, 2018 outreach to BLM Acting Director Brian Steed and USFS Interim Chief Vicki Christiansen reminds that “energy development and associated infrastructure are dynamic environments.”

The letter signed by WGA Chair Hawaii Gov. David Ige and WGA Vice Chair North Dakota Gov. Doug Burgum includes new and relevant information in habitat and wildlife management, broadband infrastructure and vegetation management and wildfire considerations. It concludes by asking the agencies to "consider Western Governors as a resource and partner in addressing the issues."
