LETTER: WGA supports EPA decision to not issue final CERCLA regulations

The Western Governors’ Association supports the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) decision to not issue final regulations requiring financial assurance for hardrock mining facilities pursuant to Section 108(b) of the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act (CERCLA). The letter, sent to EPA Administrator Scott Pruitt on February 23, 2018, notes that the proposed rule “was developed without meaningful state consultation and was duplicative of state programs.” Read, download the letter.
