LETTER: Western Governors ‘strongly urge’ Army Corps to engage states on proposed rulemaking process

CATEGORY:
Water

Western Governors urge the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in a letter on June 6, 2018 to engage with states as it moves forward with its proposed rule, Policy for Domestic, Municipal, and Industrial Water Supply Uses of Reservoir Projects Operated by the Department of the Army, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. The Governors assert the proposed rule would affect Corps water reservoir projects located in western states and threaten to interfere with those states’ primary authority to manage and allocate water resources within their boundaries. In addition, it "remains unclear ... how the Corps plans to engage with, and respond to, states as it moves forward." Read, download the letter.
